Skagit Runners Minutes-June 17, 2008
Members present: Alvin Crain, Terry Sentinella, Joe Tompkins, Cynthia Buttrey, Bill Arnett, Heather Romano, Shawna Wilsky, Rob Jacobsen.
Scholarship report: Thanks to the scholarship committee for a great job! If club funds provide we can increase the amounts of the scholarships. Any suggestion for changes regarding the scholarships for next year please email Kim.
Dog Island Run: Run went great, is a good run and a lot of fun. Come on out and join in next year. This run is a fundraiser for the library.
Berry Dairy Days: Run is next week.
Skagit Flats Marathon: Flyers are out. Shawna is working on a poster, will contact Heather for help locating a photo for the poster. Terry is currently working on course changes. We cannot include new roundabouts in the course. Because of this the course will be permanently changed to an out and back. Insurance has been handled, Hampton Inn is set up, permit in process. Sponsorship with Erin Baker, Great Harvest Bread is set up. BEHS rental is set up. At this point we have received approximately 100 registrations.
There is no old business at this time.
Alvin gave a brief outline regarding starting up a Lost Lake 50K. They are currently trying to plot a course and get a date. At this time they are looking at putting on a 50K. Heather suggested starting with a 10K & 50K.
It was suggested again the club save funds designated towards the purchase of a chip timing system. With proceeds from the Tulip Run and if Skagit Flats goes well we should be able to purchase a system this year.
